Islamabad: Former Prime Minister and founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has expressed sorrow over the loss of lives in the recent Pahalgam incident, while strongly criticizing the Indian government for allegedly using the tragedy to unjustly blame Pakistan without proper investigation.
In a statement released from his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, Khan drew parallels between the current situation and the 2019 Pulwama attack, which he termed a "false flag operation." He recalled that Pakistan had offered full cooperation at the time, but India failed to present any credible evidence.
"Instead of conducting a transparent investigation, the Modi government is once again pointing fingers at Pakistan," Khan said, warning against irresponsible actions in a region often described as a "nuclear flashpoint."
He emphasized India's responsibility as a nation of over 1.5 billion people to act sensibly and avoid escalating regional tensions. Reaffirming his longstanding support for the Kashmiri people, Khan reiterated the importance of their right to self-determination as guaranteed under United Nations resolutions.
Khan also took aim at Pakistan’s current government, which he claims was imposed through manipulated election results via a "fake Form-47." He argued that this administration has sown division within the nation, but Modi's aggressive posture has ironically united the Pakistani people.
Calling for national unity, Khan urged an end to policies that further polarize the country. "At this critical juncture, excessive political exploitation by the state is deepening internal divisions and weakening our collective capacity to confront external threats," he warned.
